Cross Stitch Calculators

About Cross Stitch Calculators

Cross Stitch Calculators is a small, free set of tools for planning cross stitch and counted-thread embroidery projects. We built it because the maths behind fabric size, floss and finishing time is simple — but doing it in your head while standing in a craft shop, or hunting through a cluttered, ad-heavy page, is not.

Every tool here runs entirely in your browser. There's no sign-up, nothing to install, and your numbers never leave your device — the calculations happen on your own phone or computer. We keep the pages fast, mobile-friendly and readable in both light and dark mode, because most people reach for a calculator with a project already in their lap.

What you can work out here

  • Fabric size — finished design size, fabric to cut, and needle from your stitch count.
  • Aida count converter — how a design's size changes across 11–22 count.
  • Floss — an estimate of how many skeins your project needs.
  • Time — roughly how long a project will take at your pace.

A note on accuracy

Our formulas use the standard relationships stitchers rely on — stitches divided by fabric count for size, and a calibrated coverage figure for floss. Real projects vary with tension, fractional stitches, colour changes and finishing, so we always describe results as estimates and suggest rounding up on fabric and thread. If you spot something that looks off, we'd genuinely like to hear about it — see the contact page.
